Reporting on the new location of Kitaro Chaya! Introducing merchandise, menu items, and directions from the nearest station!
When the store first reopened, it was so crowded that the lines were overwhelmingly long, and I had to give up on entering. But now that things have finally calmed down, I was able to visit.
Speaking of which, when it first opened, there were also many GeGeGe no Kitaro cosplayers!

At the new location, Kitaro, Medama-Oyaji, and Nezumi Otoko still welcome visitors at the store entrance.
They’re quite eye-catching, so you’ll spot them right away while walking. Haha! A great and easy-to-recognize landmark.
Now, let’s dive into the original merchandise and souvenirs with plenty of photos!
Kitaro Chaya’s Original Merchandise, Sweets & Souvenirs

Photography is allowed inside the store, so I took plenty of pictures without hesitation. Thank you!
Is this character enthusiastically taking photos supposed to be Shigeru Mizuki-sensei!?

Is this a sticker featuring an all-star lineup of Shigeru Mizuki-sensei’s characters?
I was surprised to see Akuma-kun in the bottom left corner looking completely different from the version I’m familiar with!

An opportunity to create your own original stamp called “OSMO” was set up inside the store. I wonder if you can make a GeGeGe no Kitaro stamp with it?

A wide range of apparel sizes, from M to XL.

Even someone like me, an older guy, could probably wear a T-shirt… right?

I debated whether or not to buy the original wooden bath tub until the very end, haha!
On the top shelf above, there was also some toilet paper on display.

The variety of GeGeGe no Kitaro-themed sweets and original souvenirs was truly impressive.
I’m sure any fan would be thrilled to receive them as a gift!

They also have alcoholic beverages available.

There’s also a “Graveyard Kitaro,” related to the story behind Kitaro’s birth.
Since the recent movie was so interesting, I’m thinking of eventually collecting the Graveyard Kitaro series as well.

The manga corner was smaller than I expected, but today I bought the one shown above.
Kitaro Chaya’s Menu

When ordering for takeout, you first place your order using the machine above.

Your order will be handed over at the pickup window above.
Here’s the menu below:

Directions from the nearest station to Kitaro Chaya.
Now, let me introduce the directions from the nearest station, Keio Line Chofu Station.
The red arrows indicate the path, so use them as a reference for your route. It takes about a 5-minute walk.

When you exit from the central gate at Chofu Station, you’ll see a bus rotary. Head towards the right.
In general, walk forward with the bus rotary on your left side.

Walk around the bus rotary with it on your left side.

This will lead you to a straight road heading toward the scramble crossing.

If you turn slightly right at the corner of Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, you’ll…

You’ll see the entrance to the Tenjin-dori Shopping Street.
The Kitaro figure circled in red in the photo is your landmark.

Once you enter the shopping street and walk straight ahead, you’ll…

You’ll see the new Kitaro Chaya on your right.
With the easy access from the nearest station, you can head straight there as soon as you exit Chofu Station.
There are GeGeGe no Kitaro characters all over the Tenjin-dori Shopping Street!
If you get the chance, be sure to look for them yourself!

Does Kitaro Chaya offer online shopping for their merchandise?
I checked the official website, and it seems that Kitaro Chaya does not offer direct online shopping for their merchandise.
So, I recommend visiting Kitaro Chaya in person to enjoy their wide variety of Kitaro goods!
What is the crowd situation like at Kitaro Chaya?
As I mentioned earlier, the store was extremely crowded right after the reopening, but when I visited, it seemed to have settled down quite a bit.
Even though it was a weekend, I went in the morning, and as you can see from the photos above, the store wasn’t too crowded, allowing me to take my time and look around. Later, when I passed by the store in the early afternoon, I saw that there were more customers inside. So, if you want to take your time and enjoy the store, it might be a good idea to go in the morning.
Why is Chofu considered the holy land of Kitaro?
I was curious and looked it up, and I found out that Chofu City is called the holy land of GeGeGe no Kitaro because the author, Shigeru Mizuki, lived in Chofu for over 50 years and was named an honorary citizen of the city.
Additionally, the forest behind Fuda Tenjin Shrine is set as the place where Kitaro lives in the story.
